The Fresno Pacific women’s 4×100 relay team became national champions Saturday after setting a new Division II record.
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The Fresno Pacific University women’s 4×100 relay squad has achieved national championship status by breaking the Division II record.
The Sunbirds completed the race with an impressive time of 43.85 seconds, overtaking the previous day’s record set by New Mexico Highlands University, which was recorded at 43.98 seconds during the preliminaries.
The triumphant relay team included:
- Sariyah Copeland (Central HS)
- Shaniya Randolph (Bullard HS)
- Brianna Green (St. Augustine, FL)
- Nydia Chance (Jamaica)
Nydia Chance stepped in as a last-minute replacement for senior Ariana Vera, who was unable to compete due to food poisoning.
In addition to the team victory, Brianna Green also claimed an individual national title in the women’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.88 seconds.
