Acknowledgement of Excellence in Colorado College Women’s Tennis
Four players from the Colorado College women’s tennis team have been recognized in the 2025 All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) teams following votes from the league’s head coaches and sports information directors. This accolade highlights the skill and dedication of the athletes from a team that concluded its season with a commendable 12-8 record, placing 45th in national rankings.
All-Conference Selections
Sophomore Kala Komanduri and freshman Ally Lowe made the first-team list for singles, while freshmen Aspen Young and Lucia Moravek were named to the second team for both singles and doubles. This achievement marks the second instance in three years that Colorado College has seen four of its players chosen for the all-SCAC teams.
Individual Achievements
Komanduri continues to impress, having earned a first-team selection in singles for the second year in a row. She is the first Tiger to achieve this consecutive feat since Fiona Cerf in 2015 and 2016. During the season, Komanduri played the majority of her matches in the No. 1 position, attaining a total of nine wins against only six losses. Notably, she achieved victories against Division II rivals, including a thrilling match against Hanna Haber that marked the Tigers’ first win over the Metro State in nine years.
Lowe made significant contributions as well, finishing her season with ten singles wins, including eight at the No. 2 position. Her performance peaked with a seven-match winning streak, capped off by a victory against Colorado Mesa.
On the doubles front, Young secured an impressive 15-1 record in singles, leading the team and showcasing exceptional skill with an 8-1 mark at the No. 3 position. Moravek followed closely with 11 victories, demonstrating consistent performance throughout the season, particularly with an 8-1 record at the No. 5 spot.
Doubles Performance
Young and Moravek also excelled in doubles, winning four matches together at the No. 1 position, including a decisive victory in their regular-season finale against opponents from Southwestern University.
Team Reflection
Head coach Anthony Weber expressed pride in the team’s achievements, emphasizing the cooperative spirit and high performance of all players. “We are thrilled for those named all-conference, but it is truly a team award,” Weber noted. He praised the collective effort and selflessness shown by both team members who traveled and those who supported from the sidelines. The commitment to each other and the high level of competition ultimately led to a memorable season.
