Fordham University Women’s Tennis Team Achieves Academic Excellence
In a remarkable display of academic prowess, the Fordham University women’s tennis team has been recognized as an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for the tenth consecutive year. This prestigious accolade reflects the team’s commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
In addition to the team’s achievement, three individual players have earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. Recognized for their outstanding academic performance are:
- Paola Dalmonico, Sophomore
- Julianne Nguyen, Junior
- Sofie Siem, Senior
The ITA’s Scholar-Athlete program highlights the dedication of student-athletes in maintaining the balance between sports and academics. In 2025, a total of 1,462 Division I women’s student-athletes received this distinction, with 222 women’s tennis programs being awarded the All-Academic Team status.
Criteria for ITA Honors
To be awarded the title of ITA Scholar-Athlete, individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Achieve a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher on a 4.00 scale for the academic year.
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
For a team to be recognized as an ITA All-Academic, it must fulfill specific requirements, which include:
- Maintaining a team GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.00 scale.
- Ensuring all student-athletes are listed on the institutional eligibility form.
- Factoring in the GPA of all varsity letter winners for the current academic year.
