Five Portland Pilots Women’s Soccer Players Earn Academic All-District Honors
Portland, Ore. – In a remarkable achievement, five members of the Portland Pilots Women’s Soccer team have been named to the Academic All-District team by College Sports Communicators. The honored athletes are Violet Rademacher, Sophia Hills, Kyah Zurek, Aliyah Dockter, and Ruby Settle, marking a significant milestone for the program.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Academic All-District accolades, student-athletes must meet specific requirements: they must have participated in at least 90% of their team’s contests or started in 66% of games, alongside maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50. Additionally, only individuals with sophomore standing or higher in both academics and athletics qualify.
Individual Highlights
Violet Rademacher
Rademacher has been recognized for the second consecutive year for her outstanding performance both on and off the field. As a defensive anchor, she contributed significantly, leading the team with seven goals and one assist. The Pilots excelled defensively, allowing only .632 goals per game, achieving 10 shutouts, and ranking second in the conference in these categories. Rademacher also received All-WCC First Team honors and was selected for the WCC All-Academic Team.
Sophia Hills
Playing a critical role as goalkeeper, Hills started all 19 matches and boasted impressive stats, including a .595 goals-against average and an .833 save percentage, ranking her first and second in the WCC, respectively. With 10 shutouts, she was also 13th nationally for clean sheets. Hills earned All-WCC Second Team honors along with WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Kyah Zurek
This year marked Zurek’s first selection to the Academic All-District team. After playing in 18 matches and starting nine, she proved to be an essential asset on the wing and was recognized with WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Aliyah Dockter
Dockter made her mark by starting all 19 contests this season and scoring two pivotal goals—both of which were game-winners. With her strong midfield presence, she also earned All-WCC Honorable Mention and was awarded WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention for the second time.
Ruby Settle
Completing the list of Academic All-District honorees for the Pilots, Settle’s contributions were vital as the team celebrated a strong season.
Season Overview
The Pilots enjoyed one of their strongest seasons in recent history, finishing with a 7-1-3 record in conference play, securing a tie for second place in the WCC— their best performance since 2013. With an overall record of 10-3-6, this marked their third season with over ten wins in the past four years, and they achieved their highest winning percentage (.682) since 2013.
