Harding Women’s Golf Team Celebrates Academic Success
SEARCY – The Harding University women’s golf team has achieved significant recognition in both academics and athletics, as five student-athletes have earned spots on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team for NCAA Division II.
Academic All-District Honors Explained
To qualify for the Academic All-District distinction, student-athletes must meet specific criteria: they must be at least sophomores, demonstrate key contributions in their sport, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Standout Performers
Leading the academic accolades for the Lady Bisons is Sarah Kmiecik, a senior from Houston, Texas. Kmiecik has excelled with a perfect 4.00 GPA while majoring in kinesiology and sport administration. On the golf course, she has significantly contributed to her team’s success with a school-record stroke average of 74.20, which includes six top-10 finishes and seven rounds at par or better.
Following her is Sydney Kincade, a sophomore from Prosper, Texas, who has also made her mark. With an impressive GPA of 3.88 in exercise science, Kincade recorded a stroke average of 75.52 and garnered five top-10 finishes this season. Both Kmiecik and Kincade have been honored with All-Great American Conference accolades and are on the ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Additional Recognitions
Pilar Martinez, a junior from Aguascalientes, Mexico, has also received recognition. Martinez is pursuing a degree in marketing and maintains a 3.56 GPA. She showcased her talents on the course with a stroke average of 77.12 and tied for the individual championship at the Grace Shin Regional Preview.
Madeleine Wilson, another junior, hails from Springdale, Arkansas. Wilson holds a commendable GPA of 3.84 in marketing and achieved an average of 78.76 across her 10 events this season.
Additionally, Cooper Meyer, a sophomore from Salado, Texas, makes the list. Specializing in health studies with a GPA of 3.71, Meyer has an average of 79.31 over 11 events and clinched victory at the Scots Fall Invitational.
Season Wrap-Up
The Lady Bisons concluded their season with a commendable performance at the NCAA Central Regional, securing a 10th-place finish after previously placing second at the Great American Conference Championship.
