MUNICH (Germany) – The first round of the Qualifiers for the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2027 has been officially determined following a draw held on Wednesday. A total of 27 nations will engage in the initial phase of this prestigious European basketball tournament.
The draw ceremony was conducted with notable attendees, including Kamil Novak, FIBA Executive Director Europe, alongside former Sweden international Farhiya Abdi and Shawn Huff, a former captain of the Finnish men’s national team.
Teams have been divided into groups for the Qualifiers as follows:
- Group A: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Luxembourg, Ireland
- Group B: Slovenia, Latvia, Netherlands, Estonia
- Group C: Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Cyprus
- Group D: Great Britain, Switzerland, Norway, Austria
- Group E: Montenegro, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan
- Group F: Greece, Croatia, Denmark, North Macedonia
- Group G: Serbia, Portugal, Iceland
- Group H: Belgium, Finland, Lithuania, Sweden (co-hosts)
The first round of matches will take place during two periods: in November 2025 and March 2026, with each window featuring three game days. Progression will occur for the winners and runners-up from each group, along with the three top-ranked third-placed teams, totaling 17 teams advancing to the second round.
Belgium, Finland, Lithuania, and Sweden have automatically qualified as co-hosts, participating in Group H of the draw and competing throughout the entire Qualifiers.
Notably, countries such as Czechia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, and Türkiye will enter at the second round stage, having qualified through the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for March 2026.
