Omarion Discusses Romantic Views on The Sherri Show
In a recent appearance on The Sherri Show, Omarion opened up about his romantic inclinations, revealing insights into his past experiences with celibacy and his views on unconventional relationships.
During the engaging discussion with host Sherri Shepherd, the R&B artist delved into the topic of “ethical non-monogamy,” a term introduced by Shepherd in reference to actor Kofi Siriboe’s approach to dating.
“I agree with it. While I may not know all the nuances of that concept,” Omarion, 40, stated. “For me, being open is essential, especially considering the fact that women greatly outnumber men.”
With a lighthearted response to Shepherd’s humorous analogy of relationships being like an “all you can eat buffet,” Omarion elaborated: “There are only a select few good men out there. Relationships are not solely about physicality; we also nurture the next generation. Having been raised by strong women, I see the value in aligning ourselves with our queens. It truly takes a village—one man won’t fulfill all roles. When you get married, that man will still have responsibilities to his daughter, his mother, and his grandmother. This idea isn’t new; it just needs a modern upgrade.”
Omarion further expressed his enthusiasm for the topic, saying, “I cherish such discussions. When men are transparent about not wanting a singular commitment for life, it empowers women to make informed choices and fosters a deeper understanding between the genders. Many women might not fully grasp the male perspective, and there’s a more extensive dialogue to be had about how men are naturally inclined to spread their lineage.”
The singer has previously voiced his openness to polyamory, joining a list of other celebrities like Nick Cannon, Janelle Monáe, Joey Bada$$, and Will Smith, who have also shared their experiences with nontraditional partnerships.

Reflecting on his dating history, Omarion noted, “It’s been quite some time since I’ve been in a conventional ‘girlfriend-boyfriend’ relationship. I believe a private life is a joyful life, and I trust that she will find me—perhaps even multiple ‘shes’ may find me. The idea of being in a relationship with only one woman makes me question if that’s even plausible given my lifestyle.” This sentiment was shared during his appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast in 2023.
He concluded, “My background doesn’t parallel traditional norms. I’ve tried that route, but I’m not certain if it suits me.”
