Today marks the final day of the Women’s Softball competition at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China. Although heavy rainfall initially delayed the start of the semifinals, the weather has improved and grounds crews are working diligently to prepare the fields for play. The semifinals, which were set to kick off at 9 a.m., will now commence at 10:30 a.m.
Following the semifinals, the tournament will conclude with the much-anticipated gold and bronze medal matches.

The matchup on Field 1 features a classic rivalry between the USA and Japan. These teams have displayed their dominance in women’s softball by facing off in the finals of all Women’s Softball World Cups since 2002, as well as the last two Olympic Games and the title match at The World Games 2022. To date, the USA holds a 7-5 advantage over Japan in these high-stakes contests.
On Field 2, Canada will face off against Chinese Taipei, each aiming for a second appearance in the final of a major tournament. Canada last contended for gold at the 1978 World Cup in El Salvador, while Chinese Taipei made it to the finals as hosts in 1982.
