The FIBA U16 EuroBasket, Division C tournament is set to unfold in Peja, Kosovo, from July 8-13. This summer, it is one of 16 youth basketball events showcasing emerging talents from various regions.
Participating Teams
Eight teams will compete for the coveted Division C title, organized into two groups of four:
- Group A: Gibraltar, Georgia, Armenia, Cyprus
- Group B: Moldova, Kosovo, Albania, Malta
Competition Schedule
The tournament kicks off with a three-day Group Phase, followed by a rest day on July 11. The Semi-Finals are scheduled for July 12, culminating in the Final on July 13. Additionally, Classification Games will determine the overall standings of the participating teams.
2024 Championship Recap
Azerbaijan successfully defended its Division C title last year, achieving a 69-52 victory over Cyprus in the Final held in Gibraltar. Deniz Gokcol led the Azerbaijani squad with an impressive performance, contributing 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. Meanwhile, Isabelle Hadjichristodoulou of Cyprus scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to fuel her team’s efforts.
In the Third-Place Game, Albania secured the bronze medal, narrowly defeating Malta 43-41 with a game-winning shot by Emma Cela.
Outstanding Players
Angelina Ismayilova from Azerbaijan emerged as the MVP of the tournament, showcasing a compelling performance. She topped the scoring charts with an average of 23.0 points per game, along with 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 4.0 steals. Her efficiency rating of 20.8 was the highest in the tournament.
