About the Seminar
The seminar, titled “Women’s Health Needs and Access to Healthcare: Emerging Issues and Policy Opportunities,” will explore the evolving landscape of women’s health needs in light of rapid demographic and epidemiological changes.
Discussions will focus on how women’s health burdens, especially beyond reproductive years, are changing, and whether women have adequate access to the healthcare services they require.
We will also examine the financial aspects of women’s healthcare and the barriers they encounter both at home and within healthcare systems.
Featured Speakers
Nandita Bhan
Nandita Bhan is a Professor at the Jindal School of Public Health, O.P. Jindal Global University. A trained social epidemiologist, she has extensive experience in addressing social inequalities in health. With degrees from Harvard University and University College London, her research emphasizes gender equality and health determinants affecting women and girls throughout their life course.
Sapna Desai
As a Senior Fellow at the Population Council Institute, Sapna Desai’s work is centered on women’s health across the life course, focusing on sexual and reproductive health rights. She leads research initiatives and previously served as the national health lead for the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA). With a PhD in epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, her expertise encompasses community participation in healthcare systems.
Radhika Jain
Radhika Jain, an Assistant Professor of Health Economics at University College London, delves into healthcare markets and socioeconomic inequalities in health policy, especially in India. With a doctorate from Harvard University, she contributes to various research initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes and reducing disparities.

Anjana Bhushan
Anjana Bhushan, formerly with the World Health Organization, has shaped health policies focusing on gender equity, human rights, and gender-based violence. She is recognized for her deep understanding of integrating these crucial elements into health systems, having previously worked with the World Bank and UNDP.

Sandhya Venkateswaran
Sandhya Venkateswaran, a Senior Fellow at CSEP, has dedicated her career to social sector issues. With over 30 years of experience, she focuses on health policy and has been involved in various advocacy efforts aimed at improving health services and outcomes for women.
