The Center for Energy Education (C4EE) is excited to announce its upcoming partnership with Women on the Move for a significant back-to-school event aimed at supporting families in the Roanoke Valley. This initiative will take place next Saturday, August 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or while supplies last, at C4EE’s parking lot located at 460 Airport Road in Roanoke Rapids. Families with school-age children are invited to take advantage of this free event.
The primary focus of this initiative is to assist families, particularly those facing financial challenges, by distributing backpacks filled with essential school supplies. This effort is part of a broader commitment to provide the necessary resources for students to thrive in their educational pursuits.
Women on the Move, an organization founded by retired school administrative assistant and community advocate Brenda Few, is dedicated to empowering the Roanoke Valley community. It encourages volunteerism, organizes fundraisers, and creates scholarship opportunities, all aimed at fostering educational growth and social change.
“Education is a gateway to the future,” stated Mozine Lowe, executive director of C4EE. “Through this impactful backpack collaboration, we are not only alleviating the financial burden on families and students but also enhancing creative and academic opportunities for all ages.”
This event is a valuable opportunity for families in the area to receive support and necessary tools as they prepare for the upcoming school year. With supplies available on a first-come, first-served basis, C4EE looks forward to welcoming the Roanoke Valley community to this essential outreach effort.
