Inauguration Ceremony Highlights

The Khelo India ASMITA Football League for the 2025-26 season was inaugurated by Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports. This initiative aims to significantly enhance women’s engagement in sports, particularly in football. It focuses on identifying and nurturing talent among young girls from various backgrounds, including those from tribal and minority communities.

During her address at the Godavari Engineering College Ground, Khadse remarked that the league serves as a platform “where passion turns into performance.” She highlighted that this event transcends mere competition and is intended to dismantle barriers while creating pathways for girls to excel in sports.

The Khelo India ASMITA League embodies the principles of the government’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ initiative and is an essential part of the ‘Khelo Bharat Niti.’ This league not only aims to facilitate grassroots talent development but also contributes to national unity and the empowerment of women in sports.

Inauguration Attendance

The launch was graced by notable figures, including Ketakitai Patil, Farukh Shaikh (Secretary of the Jalgaon District Football Association), and representatives from the college administration. The organization of the league is in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, with backing from the Sports Authority of India, the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and the Western India Football Association (WIFA). This robust support represents a decisive move toward achieving gender equity in the realm of sports.
