Transformative Weight Loss Journey and Community Support in Hudson, FL
HUDSON, Fla. — Cori Tucker’s inspiring weight loss journey commenced two years ago, bringing significant changes to her life. As she shed pounds and reduced her clothing size by nine, the financial burden of frequently replacing her wardrobe became apparent.
Cori’s Inspiring Journey
“I have gone down nine sizes in clothes, and I have had the ability to do that through empowerment of hope. So I go in my closet and I try something on and it’s too big and I put it in the donate pile,” said Tucker. This positive transformation led her to volunteer for the nonprofit organization Empowerment of Hope, dedicated to assisting others facing similar challenges.
Empowerment of Hope’s Mission
Founded by Diana Brooks and Alicia Johnson, Empowerment of Hope has organized numerous women’s clothing drive events over the years. Despite the escalating costs associated with running these events, the organization has thrived through community support.
Brooks shared her thoughts on the organization’s evolution: “We realize as much as this is so wonderful, and we love it and we’re helping the community and everyone loves it, it also it’s starting to cost money. So down the road, we realized we probably should become a nonprofit.”
A Day of Giving
Recently, hundreds of women gathered for a clothing drive that provided free apparel to those in need. Attendees like new mother Gloria Cheney expressed gratitude for such initiatives: “As a new mom, most of your regular stuff is still not going to fit for a long time, and that you need new clothes, and you usually do not have extra money.”
Cheney, along with her sister Melinda, browsed through the selection, seeking clothing for themselves and family members. This year, the event celebrated a significant milestone, being entirely free of charge thanks to newfound sponsorships.
“This is our first year of having sponsors, amazing sponsors. Thank you so much for everything. And this will really help us continue to grow,” said Johnson.
