Advancing Women’s Entrepreneurship in Thai Nguyen

Leveraging Science and Technology for Women’s Empowerment

In a concerted effort to empower female entrepreneurs, Thai Nguyen province has actively implemented Project 939. This initiative has laid the groundwork for a supportive framework that not only aligns with central government policies but also establishes a conducive environment for women to explore various business avenues.

Funding and Support Initiatives

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, the province has approved 57 science and technology projects spearheaded by women from 2017 to 2025. These initiatives have received over 109 billion VND in funding, which includes more than 63 billion VND from provincial resources, supplemented by support from businesses and organizations. The successful applications of these research projects have resulted in the creation of high-value products, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of women-led businesses.

Fostering Innovation and Creativity

The Department of Science and Technology has implemented various events and training courses focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship. These programs aim to equip women with essential skills in areas such as smart startups and digital transformation. By collaborating with the Provincial Women’s Union, the department has developed communication initiatives to improve digital literacy among women, enabling them to utilize e-commerce platforms and engage in online marketing.

Future Initiatives for Women’s Startups

Looking ahead, the Department is set to advise the Provincial People’s Committee on a comprehensive project designed for the 2026-2030 period. This project will focus on:

  • Establishing a Women’s Startup Support Fund with preferential credit options.
  • Prioritizing training in digital skills, e-commerce, and business management.
  • Encouraging the development of science and technology projects led by women, especially in sectors like agriculture and processing.
  • Creating co-working spaces in universities and industrial parks.
  • Organizing events that promote investment and facilitate product marketing for women entrepreneurs.

Special attention will be given to underprivileged and mountainous regions, with a focus on vocational training linked to community tourism and organic agriculture.

Conclusion

Through these strategic initiatives, Thai Nguyen is poised to create an empowering ecosystem that fosters creativity, innovation, and sustainable growth for women engaged in entrepreneurship.
