Join the Celebration of Women’s History Month at PNW
Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is excited to announce a series of engaging events in honor of Women’s History Month throughout March. These events are free and accessible to the public, as highlighted in a recent announcement.
On March 13 at 4 p.m., PNW will host its annual “Unleashing Empowerment” panel featuring three distinguished alumni. This event, organized by PNW’s Alumni Engagement Office, aims to unite the campus community and alumni to share inspiring narratives about women’s professional journeys. The panel will take place in the Mane Zone of the CLO Building, located at 6933 Woodmar Ave., Hammond. For those interested in participating, registration is available at pnw.edu/empowerment.
In addition, on March 26, PNW’s College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences will present its third annual Women’s Art Exhibition, celebrating female artists as part of its Building Community Through the Arts initiative.
Continuing the celebration, a panel discussion on March 27 at 12:30 p.m. will delve into the significant contributions of the Combahee River Collective to feminist history. This event is sponsored by PNW’s Cultural Heritage Celebration Committee and will take place in Room 153 of the CLO Building.

Opportunities Available on the Porter County Ambulance Service Committee
The Porter County Council is seeking candidates to fill a position on the Ambulance Service Committee this March, as mentioned in a recent release.

This fair will conclude with the third session of the “Listen and Learn” Community Forum from 5:30-7 p.m., providing a platform for discussion and inquiry.
The event will showcase a diverse array of academic programs, extracurricular activities, and community resources available within the district, assisting families in making informed educational choices for their children. The career fair will allow prospective employees to connect with district representatives regarding teaching, administration, support services, and more.
The “Listen and Learn” Community Forum will feature the district’s leadership team and administration addressing updates and responding to questions from community stakeholders.

Firefighter/Paramedic Recruitment Open in South Haven
The Portage Township Trustee and South Haven Fire Department are inviting applications to establish an eligibility list for potential Firefighter/Paramedic openings over the next year, according to a release.
Currently, there is one position available for immediate filling.
Interviews will be conducted following the closing of the application period at noon on March 18. Applicants must hold at least an EMT-B certification in the State of Indiana and be at least 18 years of age.

New Family Medicine Physician Joins Franciscan Health
Dr. Ted George Ody Achufusi, a family medicine physician, has joined the Franciscan Physician Network, offering services to new patients in Michigan City, according to a recent release.
Dr. Achufusi completed his medical education at the Medical University of Lublin in Poland and the New York Institute of Technology’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.

C WHITT PR, LLC has recently achieved certification from the State of Indiana as a Women/Minority-owned (W/MBE) business, according to a release.
This certification allows owner and CEO Chelsea Whittington to provide essential marketing and public relations services to various governmental and business entities across Indiana.
To navigate the certification process, Whittington collaborated with Lois Whittaker, owner of Royalty Strategic Consultants and founder of the Black Chamber of Commerce of Northern Indiana.
In addition to promoting her firm’s new status, Whittington plans to revamp her website and marketing materials to incorporate the M/WBE seal and will showcase the certification letter in her offices in Gary and Hammond.
