Annual Art Fair Supports Scholarships for Women in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. — The La Crosse chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) hosted its much-anticipated Art Fair on the Green today at Viterbo University, drawing a diverse crowd of art enthusiasts and community members.
Supporting Education Through Art
This year’s event welcomed attendees free of charge; however, donations collected will help fund local scholarships and grants for women pursuing higher education. Sharon DiCicco, the artist co-chair, emphasized the importance of education, stating, “Education opens a lot of doors to people; to high schoolers we give scholarships, to college students, and, like I said, to older students returning.”
Cultural Engagement and Community Fun
In addition to enjoying a showcase of local artistic talent, visitors had the opportunity to savor a variety of refreshments from food trucks on-site. A raffle featuring artwork from participating artists added an element of excitement to the day, encouraging further community engagement.
Overall, the Art Fair on the Green serves not just as a celebration of local creativity but also as a catalyst for educational advancement in the La Crosse area, underscoring the vital role of community support for women seeking educational opportunities.
