Beijing, Sept. 28, 2025 – Kuaishou Technology, a prominent player in the content community and social media landscape, recently underscored its dedication to equitable development during the 2025 International Symposium on Girls’ and Women’s Education held at Beijing Normal University. This event, co-hosted by the National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO, UNESCO, and Beijing Normal University, assembled female leaders and advocates from various backgrounds to explore actionable strategies for improving educational opportunities for girls and women globally.
At the symposium, Song Tingting, Vice President of Kuaishou Technology and Chairperson of the Kuaishou Public Welfare Foundation, elaborated on the company’s initiatives aimed at empowering women and girls via digital platforms. “Short video and livestreaming platforms like Kuaishou are becoming powerful tools to help women realize their potential,” stated Song. “By making technology accessible, we are enabling women to overcome barriers and participate more fully in economic and social development.”
Addressing the Digital Divide for Rural Women
Song also shed light on the ongoing challenges faced by women in rural areas, particularly concerning access to information and opportunities. “Many women in these communities still lack access to essential resources,” she noted. “Our mission is to dismantle these barriers through inclusive technology.”
- Kuaishou has implemented several initiatives since 2018, including:
- “Happy Rural Leaders” and the “She-Power” Academy, which offer free digital skills training for women in remote locations.
These programs aim to enhance women’s employability, enable them to launch businesses, and increase their visibility on digital platforms.
One notable participant is Zhang Xiaosi, who hails from Linyi, Shandong. After returning home to care for her father, she engaged with Kuaishou’s “Empowering for Happiness” program, receiving training in livestreaming and e-commerce. As a result, her online sales of local agricultural products skyrocketed, resulting in a profit surge of over 80,000 yuan (approximately US$ 11,216) in 2024. Additionally, her new skills enabled her to assist elder villagers in earning an extra 700 yuan (around US$ 98) per month.
Overall, Kuaishou has successfully trained over 10,000 women, contributing to the economic upliftment of millions across China.
Promoting Education and Support for Girls
In addition to focusing on women, Kuaishou is equally dedicated to fostering educational endeavors among girls in rural settings. Collaborating with organizations such as the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund and local women’s federations, Kuaishou has initiated programs that have reached over 100,000 girls facing economic difficulties since 2021.
The company has also teamed up with the Beijing Women and Children’s Development Foundation to enhance educational facilities, donating equipment and establishing digital classrooms in 14 rural schools within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. These classrooms facilitate hands-on STEM courses that encourage girls to explore careers in science and technology.
Additionally, the “Inspiring Minds Academy” summer camp, which has been operational since 2023, brings students from rural schools to Beijing for immersive experiences that include museum visits and interactive AI learning sessions. Furthermore, Kuaishou has partnered with the China Foundation for Rural Development to introduce music education to over 100 rural schools through the “Kuaishou Music Classroom” initiative.
Through its various programs, the Kuaishou Public Welfare Foundation has supported more than 500 schools and positively impacted over 700,000 children and teenagers, emphasizing the importance of music, physical education, and information technology in their development.
