New Partnership to Empower Women and Girls in Netball

Women’s Health has officially partnered with England Netball and the Netball Super League, aiming to create a significant shift in women’s and girls’ participation in sports. This collaboration seeks to inspire and motivate women to engage with netball, which remains the most popular team sport for females in England.

Significance of Netball in Women’s Sports

With over three million women playing netball annually in England, it holds a vital position in women’s sports. However, data from England Netball indicates that 69% of women tend to pause their involvement in the sport at some point. Many face barriers related to significant life changes such as pregnancy, menopause, or decreased confidence, making it difficult to return. This partnership aspires to address those challenges and support women’s reintegration into the sport.

Key Initiatives and Events

The partnership will kick off with a live episode of the Women’s Health podcast, Just As Well, hosted by Claire Sanderson and Gemma Atkinson. The event is scheduled before the final match of the Vitality Netball International Series against New Zealand on November 19 at the AO Arena in Manchester. Notable guests for this episode include rugby World Cup winners Amy Cokayne, Holly Aitchison, and Morwenna Talling.

Future Collaborations

In the coming year, Women’s Health and England Netball will collaborate across various platforms including print publications, digital channels, and social media. They will highlight inspiring stories from grassroots initiatives to elite competitions. Additionally, exclusive offers will be available for England Netball members on Women’s Health Collective memberships, while readers of Women’s Health can enjoy discounted tickets for upcoming Vitality Netball Series events.

Empowering Women Through Sport

According to Claire Sanderson, Editor-in-Chief of Women’s Health, “This partnership strikes a major chord with our mission to empower women of all ages to live healthy, active lives.” This initiative emphasizes the importance of netball as a pathway for women to engage in fitness and camaraderie.
