Avary Rose Powell: March 2025 Girl of the Month
PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsutawney Career Women’s Club has honorably selected Avary Rose Powell as the Girl of the Month for March 2025.
Sports Achievements
Avary, the daughter of Mark and Melissa Powell, has made a significant impact in various sports throughout her school years. Her athletic endeavors include playing soccer in 9th grade, basketball from grades 7 to 12, and softball from grades 9 to 12. In basketball, she earned a spot on the District 9 All-Star Team during her 10th and 11th grades and was recognized as the District 9 AAAA runner-up in 11th grade. Additionally, she excelled as the District 9 League All-Star AAAA champion in 10th grade and was a AAA runner-up.
Softball Success
In softball, Avary achieved accolades as a member of the District 9 All-Star Team in 9th grade and was selected for the Northern Allegheny League All-Star Team from grades 9 to 11. Demonstrating leadership, she served as a team captain in both her junior and senior years, earning three letters in each sport.
Academic and Extracurricular Involvement
Beyond sports, Avary is actively engaged in her school community. She has been a dedicated member of the Student Council from grades 7 to 12, serving as president in 10th grade, vice president in 11th grade, and secretary in 12th grade. Her involvement in the Bible Club (grades 8-12) includes roles as vice president in 10th grade and president in 11th and 12th grades. Moreover, she participates in the Varsity Club (grades 9-12), serving as treasurer in 11th grade, as well as the Ambassadors program (grades 10-12) and Weather Capital Robotics (grades 11-12), where she currently holds the position of treasurer. Additionally, Avary is a member of the National Honor Society, where she serves as vice president.
Honors and Recognition
Avary has consistently achieved academic excellence, being named to the high honor roll from grades 7 to 12. She has also participated as a PowderPuff player and a PowderBuff cheerleader during her 11th and 12th grades.
