MILWAUKEE — A New Wave of Double Dutch Enthusiasts Over 40
A group of women in Milwaukee, all over the age of 40, are embracing a nostalgic childhood activity: Double Dutch. This vibrant community is breaking barriers and redefining what it means to stay active at any age.
“My journey with Double Dutch began in my childhood in Chicago,” shared Pamela Robinson, the founder of the 40+ Double Dutch Club, which she established nearly a decade ago during a challenging period in her life. “I wanted to reconnect with the joy of jumping rope as we used to.”

Robinson approached her friend Catrina Dyer-Taylor with the desire to revive their childhood pastime. “I told her I wanted to jump rope again, just like we did as kids,” she recalled.
Since that moment, the 40+ Double Dutch Club has thrived. “This club offers a safe haven for women over 40 to step away from the responsibilities of adult life and simply enjoy themselves,” said Dyer-Taylor, the co-founder. The organization has expanded to include clubs across the globe, including a vibrant chapter in Milwaukee.

Robinson highlighted the growing reach of the club: “Currently, we have over 100 sub-clubs across the U.S., and we’re expanding internationally with members in Germany, Canada, and Israel. We’re even planning a mission trip to Ghana in the near future.”

Inspired by this global movement, Angela Scott sought to bring Double Dutch to Milwaukee after witnessing its impact on social media. “We officially launched our group on May 22, 2024, marking our upcoming one-year ‘Jumperversary,'” she said proudly.

With their ages boldly displayed on their backs, these women embody vitality and joy. Scott, a nurse and breast cancer survivor, underscores the importance of heart health. “Every day matters,” she emphasizes.

Each week, the club reinforces its commitment to health, sisterhood, and positivity. “This is a space for women to escape the burdens of life—jobs, family, and daily stresses—to simply rediscover their inner child,” Scott explained.
TMJ4’s Andrea Williams experienced the joy firsthand, noting how easy it is for anyone to learn Double Dutch. The 40+ Double Dutch Club showcases a wonderful blend of fun, fitness, and friendship.
