Kellogg MBA Students Combat Stigma in Women’s Health

At Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, two MBA students are pioneering efforts to destigmatize women’s health. Their vision centers on creating awareness and fostering open discussions about critical health issues that disproportionately affect women.

The Initiative: Breaking Barriers

Recognizing the existing stigmas in women’s health, the students, Meera Jangra and Raquel Ramos, have launched a multifaceted initiative aimed at reshaping perceptions. Their focus is not only on spreading knowledge but also on facilitating a supportive community.

Creating Safe Spaces

One of the primary objectives of Jangra and Ramos is to create environments where women feel comfortable discussing their health concerns. This effort includes organizing workshops and educational sessions that focus on various aspects of women’s health.

  • Workshops on reproductive health
  • Discussions on mental health challenges
  • Programs addressing healthcare access

Educational Resources

They have also developed educational materials aimed at informing and empowering women. These resources provide insights into common health issues and strategies for managing them, enhancing women’s ability to advocate for their health needs effectively.

Collaborations for Greater Impact

To amplify their efforts, Jangra and Ramos have partnered with healthcare professionals and organizations. These collaborations aim to enrich the program’s content and ensure that the discussions are insightful and accurate.

Working with Experts

By collaborating with professionals from various medical fields, they ensure that the information disseminated is not only comprehensive but also practical. This strategy enhances the reliability of their messaging.

Addressing Societal Stigma

One of the most significant challenges they face is the entrenched stigma surrounding women’s health. This stigma can deter individuals from seeking help or discussing their issues openly. Jangra emphasizes the importance of addressing these misconceptions directly, stating, “We believe that awareness is the first step to eradicating stigma.”

Future Prospects

The initiative led by Jangra and Ramos signifies a broader movement towards inclusivity and education in women’s health. As they continue their work, they hope to inspire other students and professionals to join the cause, creating a more supportive healthcare environment for women everywhere.

Get Involved

For those interested in contributing to this cause or learning more about the challenges faced by women in healthcare, the team encourages participation in local workshops and outreach programs. Each step taken can lead to transformative change in how society views and discusses women’s health issues.
