Launching the 16 Days of Activism
The Heidelberg SAPS, under the leadership of Social Crime Prevention Coordinator Constable Doris Nkosi, recently initiated the 16 Days of Activism campaign aimed at eliminating violence against women and children. This campaign was organized in collaboration with the Siyabengena Patrollers.
The event convened at the Lesedi Community Centre, where various stakeholders gathered to promote awareness and address the pressing issues surrounding crimes against women and children.
Many incidents of violence against women and children often go unreported, resulting in a lack of visibility for these critical issues. This campaign presents an opportunity for victims to understand the importance of reporting every crime committed against them.
Constable Nkosi emphasized, “Our goal is to raise awareness regarding the crimes perpetrated against women and children and inform the public about the services available at the Heidelberg Police Station. These include the Victim Friendly Room, the Gender-Based Violence Desk, and other related services.”
