Empowering Women in Mining: A New Partnership for Gender Equity

Partnership Highlights

Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa) has formed a strategic alliance with Resourcing Tomorrow and Mines and Money London 2025. This collaboration aims to enhance gender equity throughout the mineral value chain in Africa.

Significance of the Collaboration

According to Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji, Executive Director of WiM-Africa, this partnership marks a pivotal step in elevating the voice of African women in the global mining discourse. The initiative promises to facilitate representation and promote gender-inclusive development in the sector.

“The partnership is more than just an opportunity to attend a global conference—it is a platform for representation,” said Asokoro-Ogaji.

She emphasizes that the collaboration ensures African women have a substantial role in discussions regarding investments, sustainability, and innovations critical for the future of mining.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate, applicants must meet certain criteria:

  • Currently employed in a qualifying mining or energy company.
  • Company’s market capitalization must exceed USD $500 million.
  • Hold a position that influences purchasing, operations, legal, human resources, government, or technology decisions.

Event Participation

Apart from gaining access to the main conference, WiM-Africa will organize a high-level side event during London Mining Week. This exclusive event aims to connect African women leaders with international partners, policymakers, and investors.

The gathering will highlight significant contributions to the critical minerals sector, showcase innovative projects, and foster collaborations that aim to achieve gender-inclusive growth within the industry.

For further details about the initiative and how to get involved, please visit the official WiM-Africa website.
