Lanie Campbell Joins the Colonels: A New Chapter for EKU Women’s Golf
Transfer Announcement
Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s golf program is thrilled to announce the signing of Lanie Campbell, as officially confirmed by head coach Mandy Moore. This strategic addition is set to enhance the Colonels’ roster for the upcoming season.
A Seasoned Competitor
Before her transfer, Campbell showcased her skills over three seasons with the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. Notably, in the previous season, she averaged a score of 75.44 across 25 rounds, competing in nine stroke play events. Her standout performance came during the Cardinal Cup, where she achieved a season-low 54-hole score of 226 (+6), finishing tied for 13th place, and concluded with a remarkable round of 70 (-2). Additionally, she earned a 23rd place finish at the Conference USA Championship and led her team with an impressive total of 68 birdies over the season.
Accomplishments Beyond College
Campbell’s accomplishments are not limited to collegiate tournaments. She has claimed victory at the 2024 Tennessee Women’s Match Play Championship and secured a tied fifth position in the 2024 Tennessee Women’s Open. Her competitive edge also shone through as she finished tied for ninth at the Tennessee Women’s Amateur.
Foundation of Success
A native of Ethridge, Tennessee, Campbell has a rich background in golf, having played for her father, Jon Campbell, at Summertown High School. She maintained a remarkable average score of 71.2 in 2021 and was recognized as a TWSA All-State selection for three consecutive years—from 2019 to 2021. Under her influence, Summertown High School celebrated four state championships, with Campbell consistently finishing in the top 10 individually each year.
Academic Journey
In addition to her athletic achievements, Campbell is also pursuing a degree in business. She is the daughter of Jon and Stacie Campbell and has three sisters: Karlie, Hadlie, and Paislie.
Coach’s Insight
Coach Mandy Moore expressed her enthusiasm about Campbell joining the team: “We are so happy to be adding Lanie to our team this fall. I believe she will make an immediate impact on our team on and off the course. She has a lot of great collegiate experience, and I’m really excited for the opportunity to coach her.”
