In an impressive display of both athletic and academic prowess, eight players from the Syracuse women’s basketball team have secured their spots on the prestigious Women’s Basketball All-ACC Academic Team. This announcement was made on Monday afternoon, highlighting the commitment of these student-athletes to excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
Repeat Honorees and New Members
Among the honored athletes, seniors Kyra Wood and Georgia Woolley achieve the status of three-time All-ACC Academic Team selections. Additionally, Sophie Burrows has earned a spot on the team for the second consecutive year. The list is rounded out with first-time selections Dominique Camp, Shy Hawkins, Madeline Potts, Olivia Schmitt, Journey Thompson, and Izabel Varejão.
Selection Criteria for the All-ACC Academic Team
To qualify for the All-ACC Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 from the previous semester and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 throughout their academic careers. Furthermore, these athletes needed to have participated in at least 50% of their team’s games during the season.
Season Performance Overview
This past season, the Syracuse women’s basketball team recorded an overall record of 12 wins and 18 losses. They successfully advanced to the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament, showcasing their competitive spirit.
