Longwood Women’s Soccer Reveals Fall 2025 Schedule

FARMVILLE, Va. – Head coach Todd Dyer of Longwood University’s women’s soccer team has officially announced the schedule for the 2025 fall season. The upcoming season promises an exciting lineup as the Lancers will compete in 17 matches, with a significant majority hosted at the Longwood Athletics Complex located on Johnston Drive in Farmville.

Home Field Advantage

Among the team’s engagements, 11 games will be played at home, providing local fans ample opportunity to support their team. The Lancers will face various regional opponents in the non-conference portion of their schedule, ensuring a competitive atmosphere as they gear up for the Big South Conference play starting in late September.

Preseason Preparation

Before officially kicking off their season, Longwood will participate in exhibition matches against UNC Wilmington and Davidson on August 3 and August 7, respectively. The regular season gets underway on August 14 as the Lancers square off against Alabama A&M, marking the inaugural matchup between the two programs.

Non-Conference Highlights

After the season opener, Longwood will host three additional non-conference matches within a week: American on August 17, VMI on August 20, and Charlotte on August 24. Following these home games, the team will embark on road trips to UMBC on August 28 and ETSU on August 31.

Strong September Stretch

As September unfolds, the Lancers return home for a critical four-game homestand. This stretch begins with a contest against Western Carolina, the previous season’s Southern Conference champions, on September 4. Longwood will also face Appalachian State on September 7 and Richmond on September 11, concluding their non-conference schedule.

Big South Conference Play

The Lancers will commence their Big South Conference play with a match against Gardner-Webb on September 20, following a nine-day break. While balancing home games and road challenges, the team will aim to build momentum with visits to Radford on September 24 and High Point on October 1.

Final Stretch and Tournament Outlook

Longwood’s final five games consist of critical matchups against Presbyterian on October 4, Winthrop on October 15, and UNC Asheville on October 25, punctuated by away contests at reigning champions USC Upstate on October 11 and Charleston Southern on October 18.

The Big South Tournament is scheduled for the first two days of November, featuring the top six seeds from the regular season. The top two teams will earn a bye to the semifinals, while the third and fourth seeds will host quarterfinal matches on November 1 or 2. The semifinal and final games will take place at the Matthews Sports Complex on November 6 and 9, respectively.

Looking Ahead

Last season, the Lancers reached the Big South Tournament for the first time since 2021, showcasing growth with a 3-2-3 record in conference play and a remarkable defensive streak, not conceding any goals in their last five matches. With 19 returning players from last season’s squad, expectations are high as the Lancers prepare for the challenges ahead.
