Drake Women’s Basketball Welcomes New Assistant Coach
In a significant development, Drake University’s women’s basketball team has announced the addition of Kristin Rotert to its coaching staff. Head coach Allison Pohlman made the announcement recently, expressing enthusiasm about Rotert’s arrival.
Experience and Expertise
Kristin Rotert comes to Drake after a successful four-year tenure at Northwestern College in Orange City, where she led the women’s basketball program. Since taking the reins in 2021, she has compiled an impressive record of 80 wins and 44 losses, steering her team to four appearances in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Tournament.

Personal Journey
Rotert, originally from Salem, South Dakota, transitioned to Northwestern College after serving three years as the Director of Basketball Operations at South Dakota State University (SDSU). While at SDSU, she was a part of the team that reached the Sweet 16 in the 2019 season.

Expressing her excitement about joining Drake, Rotert stated, “I am beyond excited and grateful to be joining such an incredible staff and program here at Drake. [Drake] is truly a special place with a rich tradition of women’s hoops and a culture of excellence. Go Bulldogs!”
Alumni Accomplishments
Rotert’s connection to the game is further solidified by her achievements as a player; she graduated in 2011 from SDSU, where she set the record for the most 3-point field goals in the program’s history, having played from 2007 to 2011.
