Disney+ is set to introduce an innovative sports series titled “Vibe Check” that is distinctly women-led. Scheduled exclusively for release in late June, the show aims to spotlight “ESPN’s unparalleled roster of the most talented female voices across all sports.” This announcement was made by ESPN personalities Elle Duncan, Andraya Carter, and Chiney Ogwumike during Disney’s upfront presentation.
“Vibe Check” will deliver fresh episodes three times a week, leveraging ESPN’s prominent voices to offer a unique perspective on sports coverage. According to the official logline, viewers can expect expert analysis, exclusive behind-the-scenes moments, candid opinions, and a significant dose of humor. The program promises to deliver bold insights and an energetic atmosphere.
Elle Duncan emphasized, “ESPN is true women’s sports, not new women’s sports. And our commitment is fueling the growth of ESPN.” Notably, she highlighted that in the past year, fans dedicated 54% more viewing time to women’s sports, including the WNBA, college basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, and tennis.
ESPN’s president of content, Burke Magnus, expressed enthusiasm about the show, stating, “We are incredibly excited to launch this new show, which will provide a powerful platform for the brilliant women at ESPN.” He noted that the expertise of the women leading this program has long shaped the sports landscape and that this new platform would amplify their voices for Disney+ subscribers.
“Vibe Check” joins a growing roster of exclusive ESPN content on Disney+, pairing with “SC+,” a new daily edition of “SportsCenter” that premiered on March 3. “SC+” aims to provide quick updates on top sports news and insights in a streamlined format. Currently, Gary Striewski and Randy Scott host “SC+” on weekdays, while Hannah Storm and Jay Harris take the helm over the weekends.
As Disney+ continues to expand its content offerings, “Vibe Check” not only highlights women’s contributions to sports media but also reinforces ESPN’s commitment to elevating female voices within the industry.
