DENVER – The University of Denver women’s basketball team is set to kick off their road trip on Thursday evening as they face off against North Dakota State in Fargo, North Dakota.
HISTORICAL MATCHUP:
The Pioneers have a record of 13-14 against the Bison. Their last encounter occurred in the first round of the Summit League women’s basketball tournament on March 9, 2024, where they unfortunately fell to North Dakota State with a score of 60-74.
LONG BALL EXCELLENCE
• Under the direction of offensive coordinator Lindsay Werntz, the Pioneers have emphasized analytics over the past four seasons, consistently ranking in the top 30 nationally for both three-pointers attempted and completed per game.
• In the 2023-24 season, Denver secured the 10th position for threes attempted (821 total, averaging 27.4 per game) and ranked 29th for threes made per game (8.2), though they were 207th in shooting percentage from beyond the arc (30.1%).
• The Pioneers surpassed double-digit three-pointers in nine games throughout the season, including a remarkable 16 against Stetson on December 9 and Oral Roberts on February 3.

LEADERSHIP TEAM ANNOUNCED
• Head coach Doshia Woods has appointed Emma Smith, Jordan Jones, Angelina Robles, and Emily Counsel to the leadership group for the 2024-25 season.
JORDAN JONES EARNS PRESEASON HONORS
• Junior guard Jordan Jones has been recognized with a spot on the Preseason All-Summit League First Team ahead of the media day scheduled for October 8.
• Last season, Jones played in all 30 games, averaging 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
• The Wyoming native stands out as the first preseason first-team all-league selection under Woods’ leadership.
