Old Dominion University’s women’s basketball coach, DeLisha Milton-Jones, has been appointed as an assistant coach for Team USA at the upcoming 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, taking place in Santiago, Chile.

Culminating from a recent announcement by USA Basketball, Kara Lawson, head coach at Duke University, will lead the team. Milton-Jones will coach alongside Jennie Baranczyk from the University of Oklahoma, bringing a wealth of experience to the coaching staff.

The AmeriCup, scheduled from June 28 to July 6, will feature participation from countries across North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. This biennial tournament serves as a crucial qualifying event for both the FIBA Women’s World Cup and the Olympic Games.

All coaches involved have notable backgrounds with USA Basketball. Lawson, in particular, boasts an impressive record, having contributed to multiple gold medal-winning teams, including as an assistant at the 2024 Paris Olympics and as head coach for the U.S. 3-on-3 team during the Tokyo 2021 Games. With a stellar record of 75 wins and just 5 losses, her experience is invaluable, having accumulated nine gold medals throughout her coaching career.

Milton-Jones also possesses significant coaching credentials, having served as an assistant coach for the U.S. teams at the 2023 FIBA Women’s U19 World Cup and the 2022 FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship. Baranczyk further adds to this distinguished group by being a court coach for the U19 National Team Trials in both 2017 and 2023.

This combination of experienced coaches aims to guide the team toward success in the upcoming tournament, fostering the development of women’s basketball on an international stage.
