In Davidson County, North Carolina, a man identified as Harry Irvine Burdick Jr. has been charged with bigamy after allegedly marrying three women in different counties without filing for divorce from any of them. This case came to light following a report made to detectives in April that initiated a thorough investigation into Burdick’s marital history.

Details of the Case

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office uncovered that Burdick had obtained marriage licenses with three separate women in Lincoln, Davidson, and Guilford counties. This investigation raised red flags regarding possible additional marriages that may not yet have been reported.

Legal Proceedings

On August 22, law enforcement apprehended Burdick, charging him with two counts of felony bigamy. According to detectives, his actions appear to have been motivated by a desire for financial and personal benefits.

Future Court Appearances

Following his arrest, Burdick was released on a promise to appear in court, with his initial court date set for September 22.

Call for Reporting

Authorities are urging anyone who may have been married to Burdick to contact Detective Foushee at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Individuals can reach out at the phone number 336-236-3365 for further information or to discuss their experiences.
