Navy Women’s Rugby Faces Dartmouth in Upcoming Matchup

This Saturday at 11 a.m., the Navy women’s rugby team will host Dartmouth at the Prusmack Rugby Center in Annapolis, Md. Both teams enter the match with a record of 1-0 in the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA).

Admission to the rugby matches at the Prusmack Rugby Center is free for all spectators.
Parking is available in the designated lots located on the north side of the Brigade Sports Complex, situated at 64 Greenbury Point Road, Annapolis, MD 21402. Overflow parking options can be found in the open space to the west of the facility.
Please note that alcohol consumption is not permitted at the Prusmack Rugby Center or the surrounding areas.

In their opening match last week, the Navy Midshipmen secured a commanding 58-7 victory against Queens. This marked a historic win, as it was the first defeat of Queens for the Navy program. Previously, Navy had only scored a total of 37 points in their earlier three encounters with the Royals.
The Midshipmen quickly took control, scoring three consecutive tries within the first 22 minutes to establish a 19-0 lead. Kelsey McKnight opened the scoring in the eighth minute, before Ella Callahan and Caroline Shegogue added tries in the 14th and 22nd minutes, respectively. The team’s momentum continued into the second half, where they scored five additional tries and successfully converted four out of five conversion attempts, along with a penalty kick.

Scouting Dartmouth
Dartmouth also began its season with an impressive performance, achieving a 59-0 victory over Quinnipiac. Key players included Marley Larkin, who scored four tries, alongside Paola Arredondo Almeida, who contributed two tries.
Last season, Dartmouth finished with a commendable 8-1 overall record and clinched the NIRA championship. They advanced to the NIRA 15s National Championship before falling to Harvard with a close margin of 19-12.
Dartmouth is coached by Katie Dowty, who is in her 11th year at the helm, boasting a 70-19 career record.
