Cal State Fullerton Women’s Golf Achieves Third Place at Marilynn Smith Invitational
The Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) women’s golf team concluded the Marilynn Smith Invitational with a commendable third-place finish among 14 participating teams. The event took place at the Lawrence Country Club in Lawrence, Kansas.
Team Performance Overview
CSUF finished the tournament with a score of 27 over par, trailing behind the University of Kansas, which secured first place with a total score of 855 (+3), and the University of Missouri, which finished with a score of 17 over par.
This achievement marks the Titans’ third consecutive top-five finish to kick off their season.
Top Individual Performers
Katharina Zeilinger
Senior golfer Katharina Zeilinger delivered an outstanding performance, finishing fifth on the individual leaderboard with a score of 217 (+4). Her remarkable rounds included a score of 70 (-1) in the second round and an even-par score of 71 in the final round.
Louise Dahl
Another standout was Senior Louise Dahl, who earned her third career top-10 finish by placing eighth overall with a score of 220 (+7). Dahl also recorded a 70 (-1) in the second round.
Other Notable Finishes
- Senior Kaitlyn Zermeno Smith tied for 15th place with a score of 222 (+9).
- Senior Davina Xanh finished in a tie for 17th place with a score of 223 (+10).
- Junior Zara Ali was among the top 50 competitors, tying for 48th place with a score of 232 (+19).
Upcoming Schedule
The Titans are set to conclude their fall schedule at The Ally tournament, taking place in West Point, Mississippi, from October 20 to 22. They will resume play in the spring season, starting on January 27.
