Rose Coats Qualifies for NCAA Championship for Second Consecutive Year

Performance Highlights

Rose Coats has secured her spot in the NCAA Championship for the second year in a row after finishing 7th out of 210 participants in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Her impressive time of 19 minutes and 46.1 seconds not only marked another sub-20 minute performance but also surpassed her own school record set last season.

Team Performance

Other Maryland runners also contributed to the team’s efforts, with Eva Rogers achieving a finish of 49th at 21:08.9. Leonora Lynn followed closely, finishing in 98th place with a time of 21:59.3. Completing the team’s top five, Lucy Scothern and Ellie Keefer secured 100th and 107th positions, respectively, showing marked improvements of 1 second and approximately 6 seconds over their previous times on the same course.

Overall Team Results

In the overall team standings, No. 7 West Virginia claimed first place with a total score of 56 points, achieving individual finishes of 1st and 2nd. Following them, No. 12 Georgetown placed second with a score of 62, while No. 10 Penn State took third at 76 points. Villanova and Princeton rounded out the top five teams, finishing with scores of 78 and 99, respectively. The Maryland team finished 10th overall, accumulating 345 points.

Next Steps

Looking ahead, Rose Coats is set to compete in the NCAA Championships on November 22 in Columbia, MO, marking a significant milestone as the first Maryland runner to qualify for consecutive NCAA meets since 2017-2018.
