ICSA Women’s Fleet Race National Championship: Day One Recap
The Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women’s Fleet Race National Championship kicked off on Tuesday, with the Dartmouth women’s sailing team competing fiercely during the first day of races.
Current Standings
After five competitive races in the women’s eastern national semifinal, Dartmouth is positioned sixth with a total of 19 points. This places them just four points behind Harvard, who holds the fifth position.
A Division Performance
Starting strong, Dartmouth’s A Division team secured second place in the opening race, contributing significantly to their score. Although they finished fifth in the subsequent race, the team quickly amassed seven points in total from the A Division.
B Division Efforts
The first B Division race saw Dartmouth fall to a 12th-place finish, impacting their overall standing. However, a more robust performance in the second B Division race, where they finished eighth, raised their cumulative points to 27, lifting the team into sixth place overall.
Final Race of the Day
In the day’s last race—another A Division contest—Dartmouth completed the event in ninth place. This added to their tally, bringing the total points for the day to 36, which solidified their seventh overall standing after the first day.
Leading Competitors
Stanford is currently leading the leaderboard with a remarkable total of only six points from the A Division races and four points from B Division events. Cornell has climbed to second place with just five points accrued in the B Division.
Three teams—Penn, MIT, and Boston College—are tied for third, each with 31 points. Dartmouth remains competitive, trailing by a narrow margin as they aim for an upward shift in standings.
Western Semifinal Update
In the western semifinal, Georgetown stands at the forefront with 17 points, followed closely by Yale at 18 points and Brown in third place with 29 points.

As Dartmouth prepares to return to the water on Wednesday for the second day of semifinal racing in the ICSA Women’s Fleet Race National Championship, all eyes will be on their performance to see if they can improve their standings and advance further in the competition.
