Chico State Women’s Cross-Country Team Triumphs at NCAA West Regionals
MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Chico State women’s cross-country team claimed their tenth NCAA West Regional Championship on Saturday, dominating the competition with a 46-point lead over their nearest rivals, Cal Poly Pomona.
Outstanding Individual Performances
Iresh Molina emerged as a standout performer, securing a second-place finish in the 6K race with a personal best time of 20:32.6. Her impressive performance fell just three seconds short of the individual championship title, highlighting her exceptional capabilities as an athlete. According to Rick Hoskin, the Senior Athletics Communications Coordinator at Chico State, Molina’s consistent pace was key to her success.
Another commendable performance came from Megan Malloy, who finished sixth overall with a time of 20:43.0. Freshman Paulina Martins also made headlines, achieving her first top-10 finish at a regional championship by placing ninth.
Team Contributions
The team’s scoring was bolstered by Sienna Bianchi and Olivia Beschorner, who finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Kira Forsberg and Jasmine Fletcher also contributed strong results, ensuring a solid overall team performance as they qualified for the national championships.
Next Steps
The Wildcats are now set to compete at the NCAA DII National Championships, which will be held in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on November 22. This event will mark another milestone in their successful season as they strive for further achievements.
