Ali Truwit Shines at the Women’s Sports Foundation Gala

Ali Truwit, a distinguished Paralympic swimmer and model for SI Swimsuit, made a striking appearance at the 2025 Women’s Sports Foundation’s Annual Salute to Women in Sports. This prestigious event was held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Wednesday night.

Fashion Statement

The 25-year-old athlete turned heads in a chic black mini dress featuring a fitted mock neck, dramatic bell sleeves, and a stylish slit that added elegance to her movements. Complementing her outfit was a playful high ponytail, while her makeup routine included a radiant glow, feathered brows, bronzed cheeks, and a glossy peachy-pink lip. Mixed-metal accessories and strappy black heels gave a trendy twist to her polished look.

Gratitude for Women in Sports

Celebrating her experience at the gala, Truwit shared on Instagram: “The best night at the @womenssportsfoundation Annual Salute to Women in Sports! So grateful for all they’ve done & continue to do to advance women’s sports.” Her mother, Jody Truwit, expressed her pride in the comments, highlighting the presence of “strong, bright and beautiful girls all around! ❤️🙌👏.”

Recent Achievements

October has been particularly eventful for Truwit. Just days before the gala, she graced the red carpet in California for the premiere of her documentary, Stronger Than You Think. This film, which shares its name with her nonprofit organization, recounts the harrowing shark attack that resulted in her amputation shortly after her graduation from Yale. The documentary highlights her journey from survival to becoming a two-time Paralympic silver medalist and an advocate for systemic change in sports.

Highlighting her Impact

Truwit also made headlines last week as her image lit up a Nasdaq billboard, celebrating her inclusion on Forbes’s list of America’s Most Powerful Women in Sports. She shared her excitement on Instagram, stating: “The coolest morning @nasdaq, celebrating @forbes list of America’s Most Powerful Women in Sports!!!”

Upcoming Milestone

As she prepares for the New York City Marathon on November 2, Truwit aims to raise $100,000 for her nonprofit, which focuses on providing support for girls and women facing limb loss. The organization funds prosthetic limbs, advocates for water safety, and offers training stipends for Paralympic athletes. Truwit and her team have successfully funded 11 prosthetics to date, demonstrating a growing need for such resources.

Advocacy for Accessible Mobility

In addressing the financial burden of prosthetics, Truwit stated, “This leg costs over $20,000, and it’s not even waterproof. Mobility shouldn’t be a luxury.” Her commitment to advocacy is evident as she continues to highlight the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.

Conclusion

Whether on the red carpet, advocating for change, or participating in a marathon, Ali Truwit embodies purpose and style in her every endeavor.
