From Player to Referee
At 44 years old, Foster’s journey into refereeing came on the heels of a successful playing career where she clinched three league titles with Liverpool and earned 63 caps for Wales.
Establishing Her Authority
Foster quickly earned recognition as a skilled official, making it onto FIFA’s international list of referees in 2015. Her outstanding performance led to her promotion to UEFA’s elite list just five years later.
Career Highlights
Among her many achievements, some standout moments include officiating at the finals of Women’s Euro 2022 and the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
She made history as Wales’ first World Cup referee in 45 years, overseeing Brazil’s impressive 4-0 victory over Panama in Adelaide in 2023.
That same year, Foster was at the helm of the Women’s Champions League final, where Barcelona faced Wolfsburg in Eindhoven.
Pioneering Efforts in Domestic Football
In 2018, Foster broke barriers by becoming the first woman to referee in the JD Cymru Premier, paving the way for future generations of female officials.
