WOLCOTT, Colo. – The Charlotte Women’s Golf team wrapped up the second round of the Golfweek Red Sky Golf Challenge on Tuesday, September 22. The tournament, spanning three days and featuring 54 holes of play, is being hosted at the renowned Red Sky Golf Course, designed by architect Tom Fazio. At the end of the second round, Charlotte is tied for sixth place with Kansas, with a team score of 589, which marks a total of +13 over par.
In round two, Pinky Chaisilprungruang led the Niners with a solid performance, finishing one under par with a score of 71. Notably, Wawa Booncharn achieved even better results, carding a remarkable two-under-par score of 70, which positioned her tied for eighth place on the individual leaderboard.
The Red Sky Golf Club, characterized by its significant elevation changes and varied terrain, offers a unique golfing experience amidst breathtaking Rocky Mountain scenery. “Red Sky Golf Club not only provides the opportunity to play great golf but also to encounter dramatic Rocky Mountain landscapes in their pure environmental forms,” Fazio remarked, highlighting the golf course’s distinctive features which include open sagebrush-covered hills, lush aspen forests, a picturesque highland lake, and artfully placed bunkers.

Head Coach CC McMahan expressed her team’s excitement about competing in this western tournament. “Our team is excited and grateful to be making this trip out west. The elevation is something the players will have to adjust to as the week progresses, but they are ready for the challenge,” she stated. McMahan further noted, “We are coming off a great tournament at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and will be looking to find that momentum this week here at the Red Sky Golf Club.”

Additionally, the tournament roster includes four players listed on the ANNIKA Award preseason watch list: Jasmine Koo, Catherine Park, Eunseo Choi, and Pinky Chaisilprungruang.
