Engage in Women’s Health Week at the Olson Center
The Olson Center for Women’s Health is hosting a series of informative events in observance of Women’s Health Week, designed to empower women to prioritize their health. This year, activities include free webinars and an engaging calligraphy workshop. Pre-registration is necessary for participation in all events.

Webinar on Migraines
On May 13 at noon, join Elizabeth Hartman, MD, as she presents a webinar titled “Migraine in Women.” Dr. Hartman, an associate professor in the UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences and the division chief for general neurology and headache medicine, will shed light on the significant impact of migraines on women, discussing common symptoms and available treatments.

Understanding Brain Injuries
On May 14, Peggy Reisher and Rachel Brandenburg from the Brain Injury Association of Nebraska will host a vital discussion on the often-overlooked topic of brain injuries in women. This presentation will cover symptoms, screening methods, and strategies to address the unique healthcare needs associated with brain injuries.

In-Person Calligraphy Workshop
The series concludes on May 15 with a hands-on calligraphy workshop, “Wellness Through Doing: Calligraphy 101,” held from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. Conducted by Bailey Hindman, the owner of Bailey’s Letters, participants will learn modern calligraphy techniques using a pointed dip pen and ink.
The workshop costs $40, a special event price, and includes a beginner’s kit with all materials necessary to continue the art form at home. It’s important to register soon, as spots are limited and filling up quickly. Interested individuals can sign up via Hindman’s website.
Accreditation and Continuing Education Opportunities
These events are designed to improve patient care and education, organized by the Olson Center for Women’s Health and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The university holds joint accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), ensuring that healthcare professionals can earn credit for participation.
