Portland, Oregon — A new craft beer, dubbed She Flies Hazy, has made its debut in the Pacific Northwest, bringing attention to a meaningful cause beyond just brewing.

A Collaborative Initiative for Empowerment

The Sport Oregon Foundation’s She Flies initiative has partnered with Backwoods Brewing Company to create this unique beer, aiming to champion girls and women involved in sports.

For each case of She Flies Hazy sold, Columbia Distributing will donate $2 to the She Flies initiative, adding to the over $340,000 already granted to Oregon-based non-profits that focus on girls’ sports, women’s coaching, and fitness opportunities for women.

Empowerment Through Craft Beer

Kristin Spear, the Director of the Sport Oregon Foundation, highlighted the significance of this initiative: “She Flies Hazy is about community, empowerment, and celebrating the strength and spirit of women in sport. It’s a great way to toast to progress while helping fuel the future of women’s athletics in our state.”

Details of the Brew

She Flies Hazy boasts a 5.5% alcohol by volume (ABV) and is now available at all Backwoods Brewing locations in Carson, Hillsboro, and Portland, as well as select bars and restaurants across the region.

Supporting Women-Owned Businesses

In alignment with its broader mission, Backwoods Brewing is also committed to supporting women-owned enterprises within its supply chain. The specialty malts used in She Flies Hazy are sourced from Montana Craft Malt, a woman-owned company, and the brewery plans to source hops from a woman-owned farm in Oregon.
