FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A special celebration hosted by the United Way of Forsyth County is set to honor the significant contributions of 31 women clergy members this weekend. Titled “Celebrating Women Clergy in Forsyth County,” the event will take place on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church located in Winston-Salem.
The dedication of these women faith leaders to their communities and congregations is the focal point of this recognition. The initiative was inspired by Judge Denise Hartsfield, who serves as the chair of the United Way’s African American Leadership Society.
Honorees represent a diverse range of churches across Forsyth County, including notable congregations such as Emmanuel Baptist Church, Green Street United Methodist Church, and Knollwood Baptist Church, among others.
Monetary contributions raised during the event will directly benefit local programs aimed at alleviating poverty within Forsyth County. The United Way has articulated a bold objective: to help 3,500 families escape poverty over the next decade, as stated in a recent news release.
