Tufts University Women’s Rowing Team Celebrates CRCA All-American Honors

MEDFORD, MA (June 9, 2025) – The Tufts University women’s rowing team has received significant recognition as four of its athletes were named All-Americans by the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). This distinguished list included senior Lucy Howell, junior Hannah Jiang, and junior Rose Tinkjian, all of whom secured a spot on the first team, while junior Sami Haynes earned a place on the second team. Notably, this marks Jiang’s second consecutive year receiving first-team honors, while the other three athletes achieved their first All-American awards.

The CRCA recognizes a total of eighteen athletes, comprising a nine-member first and second team. Tufts stands out in Division III for having the most players honored this year, reflecting the team’s exceptional performance.

Impactful Team Dynamics

During their remarkable season, the Jumbos showcased exceptional teamwork and skill. Jiang, serving as the coxswain, successfully guided her teammates—Tinkjian in the stroke seat, Haynes in the seven seat, and Howell in the four seat—to victory at the NCAA Championships, finishing their race with an impressive time of 6:37.686, edging out second place by a narrow margin.

In addition to their national title, the Jumbos dominated the NESCAC Championships, also winning for the second consecutive year at the National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC). The team once again claimed the Points Trophy at NIRC, marking their third consecutive win, underscored by a strong victory in the 1V8 category.

Fall Season Highlights

In a previous highlight, Howell, Jiang, and Tinkjian were instrumental in securing a win at the Collegiate Eights event during the Head of the Charles Regatta, continuing their strong performance from the year prior. Haynes, while excelling academically abroad in China during the fall semester, contributed to the team’s overall success upon her return.

This year’s All-American selections highlight not just individual talent, but the collective strength and perseverance of the Tufts women’s rowing program, under the guidance of Coach Lily Siddall.
