Proclamation of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month 2025
By the President of the United States of America
An Exploration of Physical Fitness and Sports
National Physical Fitness and Sports Month serves as a crucial reminder of the importance that physical activity and sports hold in promoting healthier lifestyles among Americans. By engaging in regular fitness routines and sporting activities, individuals can enhance their overall health, fortify community bonds, and forge a promising future for the nation.
The Current State of Public Health
Historically, the focus on the health and wellness of Americans has been insufficient, resulting in adverse outcomes. The U.S. currently trails behind many developed nations in several health metrics, including life expectancy and the prevention of chronic diseases.
Commitment to Change
Since taking office, significant strides have been made to rectify these issues. The appointment of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as the Secretary of Health and Human Services marks a pivotal step in addressing public health crises. Moreover, the formation of the Make America Healthy Again Commission aims to facilitate access to nutritious food and tackle the underlying causes of chronic illnesses in children.
Encouraging Youth Engagement in Sports
Promoting youth participation in sports is central to building a culture of fitness. In line with this vision, an Executive Order was enacted to expand children’s involvement in sports nationwide, highlighting the social and academic advantages of healthy living. Recently, an additional Executive Order was signed to maintain competitive fairness in women’s sports.
The Call to Action
As we honor National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, I urge all Americans to incorporate physical activity and sports into their daily lives. By doing so, we can cultivate a healthier society that empowers citizens to unlock their full potential.
Official Proclamation
Thus, I, Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, proclaim May 2025 as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. It is imperative that we unite in the pursuit of improved health and well-being for all.
In witness whereof, I have set my hand this twenty-fourth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, marking the two hundred forty-ninth year of American independence.
Donald J. Trump
