Caitlin Clark Sets New Record with $660,000 Card Sale
Record-Breaking Sale
Caitlin Clark has made waves in the sports memorabilia market once again. Her 2024 Panini WNBA Rookie Royalty Flawless patch autographed one-of-one rookie card was sold for an astounding $660,000 during the Fanatics Collect’s July Premier auction. This sale outstrips the previous record set in March by her 2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl autograph rookie card, which fetched $366,000 through Goldin Auctions.
Upcoming Auctions
Following this record-setting auction, another one-of-a-kind Clark card is currently up for bids. Her Immaculate patch autographed rookie card from the Rookie Royalty set is listed on Goldin Auctions, with bids reaching $219,600 as of now. The auction is set to conclude on August 9.
Market Resilience
This record-breaking sale underscores Clark’s enduring appeal in the trading card market, despite her challenging 2025 season hampered by injuries. So far, she has played in only 13 out of 25 games for the Indiana Fever, missing the WNBA All-Star Game due to calf and groin issues.
What Sets These Cards Apart?
Several features contribute to the allure of the Rookie Royalty one-of-one cards, distinguishing them from the Prizm variant that previously held the record. Notably:
- The autograph on the Flawless and Immaculate cards is directly on the card, enhancing desirability, whereas the Prizm card features an autographed sticker.
- These cards include the WNBA “Logowoman” patch from Indiana Fever jerseys, which adds significant value. Although these patches were not worn personally by Clark, they still command a premium in the market.
- Clark has inscribed distinct messages on her cards—the Flawless card features “769 pts and counting,” reflecting her scoring during her award-winning 2024 season, while the Immaculate card is noted with “ROY 24,” denoting her Rookie of the Year accolade.
Panini’s Innovative Auction Setup
Panini has introduced a unique auction model for its trading card boxes. A Dutch auction approach began with a starting price of $30,000, but most boxes sold for around $4,000. Each box contains only two cards, guaranteed to include an on-card autograph of either Clark or fellow standout Angel Reese, alongside a special insert featuring one of twelve notable players.
