CAA Women’s Golf Weekly Awards – Feb. 19, 2025
The CAA has officially recognized Emma Schimpf of Charleston as the Women’s Golfer of the Week for her outstanding performance at the Spartan Sun Coast Classic held on February 19, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia. Schimpf’s remarkable efforts led her to a top-five individual finish, showcasing her talent and skill on a competitive stage.
Spotlight on Emma Schimpf
Emma Schimpf, a senior from Daniel Island, South Carolina, made waves at the Spartan Sun Coast Classic, which featured 15 strong teams, including renowned programs from Ohio State, Michigan State, Oklahoma, and Michigan. Schimpf’s impressive play not only earned her a fifth-place tie with a 3-under 213 score at the Palm Aire Country Club but also propelled her team to a respectable fourth-place finish in the tournament.
Starting the tournament with an explosive 4-under 68 in the first round, Schimpf recorded three birdies and capped off her round with an eagle at the par-five 11th hole. Despite facing challenges in the second round with a 2-over 74, she made a strong comeback in the final round, finishing with a 1-under 71. Schimpf played exceptionally well on the back nine, remaining bogey-free while accumulating two birdies, and she maintained an overall strong performance throughout the tournament.
