In a noteworthy development in women’s basketball, Brynna Maxwell, a former standout at Gonzaga University, has been appointed as an assistant coach for the Eastern Washington Eagles women’s basketball team.
Early Life and High School Career
Maxwell hails from Portland but was raised in Gig Harbor, where she showcased her talent by leading her high school team to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) state championship during her senior year.
College Basketball Journey
Maxwell’s collegiate career began at the University of Utah, where she played for three seasons before transferring to Gonzaga. During her time with the Bulldogs, she excelled, particularly in her fifth season, where she averaged a remarkable 14.2 points per game.
Professional Aspirations and Challenges
In 2024, Maxwell was selected by the Chicago Sky in the second round of the WNBA Draft. Unfortunately, her journey was hampered by a knee injury sustained during training camp, leading to her release from the team.
Despite this setback, Maxwell continued to pursue her athletic career, spending the past year competing with Celta Baloncesto Femenino in Spain.
