Brie Johnson Joins Washington College as Director of Sports Performance

Chestertown, MD – The athletics department at Washington College is pleased to announce the appointment of Brie Johnson as the new Director of Sports Performance, effective October 6th. This strategic hire aims to bolster the college’s athletic programs and contribute to the ongoing success of its student-athletes.

Background and Expertise

Johnson brings considerable experience from her previous role at Lindenwood University in Missouri, where she spent four years as an Athletics Performance coach. During her tenure, she actively supported the football and volleyball programs, developing customized training regimens to enhance athletic performance.

“I’m excited to get started and be able to help contribute to the successes at WAC,” states Johnson. “I believe my experiences throughout the years as a strength and conditioning coach at multiple levels will allow me to help build upon the foundation of the athletic department and help continue the culture of success.”

Return to the East Coast

Having previously served as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Maryland, Johnson expressed enthusiasm about returning to the East Coast. Her familiarity with the region aligns well with her goal of contributing positively to Washington College’s athletic initiatives.

Vision and Commitment

Thad Moore, the Athletics Director, expressed his excitement regarding Johnson’s appointment: “We are excited to welcome Brie to our Athletics Family. Her experience of working with a variety of different athletes from multiple different sports fits the model we have here at Washington College. Brie’s certifications speak for themselves, and we can’t wait for her to push and develop our student-athletes to be the best that they can be, both on and off the playing fields.”

Educational Qualifications

Johnson earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Iowa State University. She also holds a Master of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Science from Southeast Missouri State University. Her educational background is complemented by several professional certifications:

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the NSCA
  • USAW Level 1 Coach
  • Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach

Looking Ahead

Johnson is keen on maximizing the potential of Washington College’s student-athletes, stating, “I am looking forward to seeing what these athletes are capable of and assisting in their development to be the best possible athletes, teammates, and people on and off their playing field.”
