BNP Launches Support Cell for Women’s and Children’s Rights
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has initiated a legal and health support cell across its 84 political districts aimed at addressing and documenting incidents of violence against women and children. This initiative encompasses serious issues such as torture, rape, and murder.
On Friday, BNP’s senior assistant secretary general, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, announced the establishment of this support cell during a press conference held at the party’s central office in the capital city.

This initiative comes in response to the public outrage following the heartbreaking case of an eight-year-old child who fell victim to rape in Magura.
Kayser Kamal, the legal affairs secretary, and Rafiqul Islam, the health affairs secretary, have been appointed as the central coordinators of this critical support cell.
Call for Justice and Legal Reform
Rizvi expressed concerns that under the current government, citizens anticipate swift enforcement of justice; however, administrative inefficiencies have allowed criminals to act with impunity.
The BNP leader warned that the interim government’s credibility would wane if justice is not delivered effectively.
Ensuring justice, according to Rizvi, necessitates a robust legal framework, along with an efficient, transparent, and accountable administration. He cautioned that without these essential components, incidents of violence and injustice against women and children are likely to escalate.
Critique of Previous Government
Rizvi criticized the previous Awami League regime for the rampant corruption, lawlessness, and political persecution that have significantly damaged the social fabric of Bangladesh.
Under the leadership of the now-ousted Sheikh Hasina, the nation witnessed a surge in killings, disappearances, and various forms of abuse against women and children, making it perilous for decent and civilized individuals to coexist in society.
The BNP leader emphasized that this ongoing trend creates a dangerous environment for women and children, as perpetrators of violence remain poised to strike once again.
