Registration for Mahila Samriddhi Yojna to Start on March 8
On March 8, the BJP government in Delhi will launch the registration process to provide financial support of Rs 2,500 per month to women from economically weaker sections. This announcement was made by BJP MP Manoj Tiwari on Sunday.
The initiative, outlined in the BJP’s Delhi Assembly election manifesto, is part of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, aimed at empowering women once the party took power in the region. Tiwari spoke to PTI Videos, stating, “We are initiating registrations for the Rs 2,500 assistance for underprivileged women in Delhi starting on March 8.”
Beneficiary List and Timeline
As the registration process unfolds, a comprehensive list of beneficiaries will be compiled. Tiwari assured that the full distribution of funds to qualifying women would be finalized within one and a half months, urging women to take advantage of this opportunity.
AAP’s Criticism and Promises
The opposition party, AAP, has voiced concerns about the BJP government’s delay in approving the scheme during its first Cabinet meeting, a promise made by the Prime Minister. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta argued that the former AAP government left “empty coffers” for the incoming BJP administration, though she pledged to uphold the party’s commitments to the public.
Piyanka Kakkar, AAP’s chief spokesperson, reiterated the promises made by the BJP prior to the elections. “The BJP pledged that every woman in Delhi would receive Rs 2,500 in their accounts by March 8 and committed to providing LPG cylinders at Rs 500, as well as a free cylinder for every household during Holi and Diwali,” she said. Kakkar urged CM Rekha Gupta to prioritize fulfilling these promises.
BJP’s Stance
In response, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva emphasized that AAP leaders, now out of power, are fabricating issues. He reiterated the BJP’s determination to fulfill all the commitments made in its manifesto, especially those aimed at supporting women in the community.
